Former Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers is set to be a witness for the prosecution in the federal obstruction and conspiracy case against Donald Trump.
That is according to the new PBS Frontline documentary “Democracy on Trial."
The indictment states that then President Donald Trump falsely told Bowers tens of thousands of non-citizens in Arizona voted in the 2020 election.
In the Frontline interview, Bowers recalled his reaction to being asked to replace Arizona’s electors to vote in Trump’s favor.
"For them to say to me, yeah we just want you to throw out those electors and put in Trump’s. I’m thinking ‘have I gone to another planet?' I mean it’s like, what? I’m not gonna do that. I mean, I wanted him to win, OK, so what? I’m not gonna cheat," Bowers said.
The obstruction trial is slated to begin in March.
