Private school associated with boxer Mike Tyson opens in Phoenix

A new private school with ties to boxing figure Mike Tyson and MMA fighter Daniel Puder opened in Phoenix on Thursday. Tyson’s Transformational Technologies Academy falls is affiliated with the MLMPI Prep Academy School System.

Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne praised Tyson for his educational endeavor.

“Many athletes struggle to find meaningful purpose in their life once their career in sports are over. Mike Tyson has found that purpose — an honorable and vital commitment to help young people get a solid education and the promise of a productive future," he said.

Former Gov. Doug Ducey also attended the event.

The academy says it costs $24,000 to attend.
