The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has announced that it will reveal its choice for the new Maricopa County sheriff on Thursday.
The board interviewed its final three candidates earlier this week, less than a month after former Sheriff Paul Penzone stepped down to pursue other opportunities.
Chief Deputy Russ Skinner, who is in the running, has been filling in the position since Penzone's departure in January.
The new sheriff will serve the remainder of Penzone's term, which will end in 2025.
Also in the running are Cmdr. Jeffrey Kirkham of the Apache Junction Police Department and Police Sector Lt. Patrick Valenzuela of the Glendale Police Department.
