The next in a series of free monthly concerts featuring world music at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts happens on Valentine's Day. And it promises to sizzle.
The music series is called “Global Sounds” and began in January with an African born singer and multi-instrumentalist.
Up next is an evening of Latin beats with one of the top groups in the Southwest, Andrés Martínez y Ritmo Latino, or rhythm Latino.
“They are very well known for a variety of styles: salsa, cumbia, cha cha, Latin jazz. I think that’s what kind of makes it interesting. Even though it’s Southwest sounds, they’re such a diverse level,” said Marylou Stephens with the city of Peoria.
There will be valentine raffle prizes.
All performances begin at 7 p.m. Reservations are encouraged and available two weeks before each concert. Complimentary tickets may be reserved through the center’s box office by visiting the Theatre Works website or calling 623-815-7930.
