Metro Phoenix could see a high of 80 degrees this week

Valley residents might find temperatures rising quite a bit this week. The National Weather Service based in Phoenix forecasts warm weather for the next few days.

“In fact, we may see temperatures approach 80 degrees in the Phoenix area for Monday and Tuesday," said Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist with the agency.

The high at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport was 6 degrees above normal on Sunday, according to the NWS.

National Weather Service forecast

  • Monday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming east southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. Calm wind.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.
  • Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
  • Wednesday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 50. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight.
  • Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 73. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
  • Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 49. West northwest wind around 5 mph becoming northeast after midnight.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 76. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
  • Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. West wind around 5 mph becoming northeast after midnight.
  • Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 78. East northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.
  • Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast after midnight.
