Phoenix City Council Member Yassamin Ansari will soon resign to focus on her congressional campaign.
Ansari announced she’ll step down from the council on March 28. She posted a resignation letter on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Ansari is running for the congressional seat held by fellow Democrat Ruben Gallego, who is running for Senate.
The council will choose a replacement for Ansari in April.
Today, I informed my colleagues at the @CityofPhoenixAZ that I will be resigning my position as Councilwoman for District 7 on Mar. 28.
