More rain expected this week in Phoenix, then temperatures will warm up

Phoenix residents experienced rainy conditions and cool temperatures over the weekend — and more rain could fall in the Valley over the next couple of days.

National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Salerno says temperatures are expected to rise by mid-week.

“So, we’ll be in the low 70s to start out the week and then we’ll warm back up by the middle to late part of the week so on Wednesday, it looks like upper 70s and then by Thursday and Friday, we’ll see the return of 80 degree temperatures," he said.

Drier conditions are also expected as no rain is forecasted past Tuesday morning.

A winter storm also brought rain and snow to parts of northern Arizona.

"A decent storm for late in the season. I mean now we’re in full spring, so a late season storm here, but nevertheless, impactful and it will be colder," said Evan La Guardia, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

La Guardia says there could be upwards of 5 inches of snow between Williams to Flagstaff by Monday morning.
