Schweikert introduces bill to expedite vaccines against substance-use disorders

Arizona Rep. David Schweikert has introduced a bill in Congress meant to fast track the development of vaccines against substance-use disorders.

The bill would make treatments for cocaine, methamphetamine and alcohol-use disorders eligible for FDA breakthrough therapy designations.

In a statement announcing the bill, Schweikert linked an increase in fentanyl coming across the Arizona border to the rise in opioid overdoses.
