The way some veterans receive their benefits is changing

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has announced an end to depositing compensation and GI Bill benefits into multiple bank accounts.

According to a release from the agency, the move is meant to “help protect veterans against fraud.”

“The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services (ADVS) understands that historically, Veterans and especially those that are students have their benefits routed to separate bank accounts,” said ADVS CEO Dana Allmond.

Those receiving benefits have until April 20  to choose a single account.

GI Bill recipients who get checks will now need to supply banking information for direct deposits.
