The new superintendent of the Peoria Unified School District is now officially on the job.
A series of meetings in the northwest Valley has been set for him to engage the communities that together send more than 35,000 students to learn in his district.
KC Somers is the new superintendent of Peoria schools.
He is scheduled to take part in one-hour meetings called listen, learn and lead, which are scheduled for 6 p.m. April 23 and 30 at district high schools.
Officials say a 6 p.m. May 1 meeting with Somers will be livestreamed.
Feedback Somers gets will go into a report for the governing board.
The district currently faces a lawsuit by a board member who wants her quoting bible verses at public meetings declared legal.
Also pending against the district is a job discrimination suit by a special education teacher who is transgender.
