Phoenix could see its first 90-degree day of the year this week

Some parts of Arizona could hit 90 degrees for the first time this year on Wednesday.

Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Phoenix, said it could surpass 90 later in the week, but the higher temperatures won’t last long.

“We’re gonna have another weather system moving across the region that’s gonna cool our temperatures down," Lojero said. "So it’s actually going to be below normal later this weekend into early next week.”

Valley temperatures should be back in the high 70s to low 80s by Monday.

The average first 90-degree day for Phoenix is March 30, according to the National Weather Service. In 2023, it was April 10.
