Gov. Hobbs signs bills adding limitations on using bots for online ticket purchases

Gov. Katie Hobbs has signed a bill into law that imposes limits on using bots to buy online tickets for concerts, sporting events and the like.

The law also prohibits creating or using bots to use multiple IP addresses and emails to buy more tickets than the posted limit on a website allows.

Each ticket purchased in this way would count as a separate violation, each punishable by a fine up to $10,000.

Hobbs also signed a related bill that imposes new rules for ticket resales.

While there are similar federal bans on using bots, Arizona’s so-called Taylor Swift bill allow for potential violations to be brought in state courts, which can be quicker.
