National gas prices rose by 7 cents this week. In Arizona, the average price per gallon rose by 15 cents.
Julian Paredes with AAA Arizona said it’s the result of routine maintenance at three California refineries causing region-wide delays and affecting gas supply.
“There’s a lot less supply of gasoline going into Arizona right now. And it’s affecting the entire Southwest region — so, California, Utah, Nevada,” said Paredes. “Everyone is feeling [the] pretty significant increases right now.”
Paredes said maintenance lasts for several weeks, which likely means high prices through the next month.
