2 unvaccinated children die from flu in Pima County

Two children in Pima County have died of the flu, according to the Pima County Health Department. Both children had Influenza B infections and neither of them had received a flu vaccine.

One was an elementary-aged child and the other was a teenager. Pima County’s Lindsay Kohler said it’s important for people to get their shots and take the flu seriously.

“Get out there and get vaccinated," she said. "It’s not too late. We still have vaccines available for this respiratory season. I think we have them in stock through the end of June this year in our county clinics and as well as you can get them at your primary care provider.”

The CDC recommends everyone six months and older get the flu vaccine every year.
