Arizona gas prices have hit a plateau — for now

After climbing for an extended period, gas prices in Arizona seem to have hit a plateau. The statewide average has fallen by about 4 cents in the past week, to $4.09 per gallon.

According to Julian Paredes of AAA Arizona, trends are similar across the country.

“It’s too soon to say that the worst has passed,” said Paredes. “A lot of it has to do with oil prices which, they’re down for now, but as we’ve seen before, things can change pretty rapidly.”

Paredes said prices will likely peak again around Memorial Day, when the summer travel season drives up demand.
