University of Arizona men’s tennis team wins first ever Pac-12 Tournament Championship

The University of Arizona men’s tennis team won its first ever Pac-12 Tournament Championship on Saturday. The Wildcats took on the Stanford Cardinals in Ojai, California, in a match that ended 4-0.

The win also marks the first time a team other than USC and UCLA won the Pac-12 tournament.

In an interview posted on the University of Arizona tennis social media, Coach Clancy Shields praised player Nick Lagaev and the team after the win.

“This team has worked their butts off all season. They've earned this moment and I couldn’t be proud of this guy. In all honesty, tonight is more than just about winning a championship. It's an end of an era and we're going out on top.”

With the victory, the Wildcats now wait for the NCAA tournament selection show on Monday.
