Arizona gas prices drop for 2nd week but stay higher than national average

Arizona gas prices are down for the second week in a row. The state average dropped by six cents to about $4.03 a gallon. But it’s still higher than the national average, which is $3.67.

AAA spokesman Julian Paredes said three California refineries have gone down for maintenance, keeping prices higher than usual.

“When those refineries come back, gas prices might actually drop pretty significantly, but then it might go up again because of Memorial Day," he said. "So there’s gonna be a lot of stuff happening at the end of the month. But right now, things might be pretty steady.”

The most expensive gas in Arizona is in Maricopa County, at $4.20. Apache County is the cheapest, at $3.68.
