Arizona's congressional delegation split in vote to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson

Arizona’s congressional delegation was split on whether to force House Speaker Mike Johnson from his post in a vote on Wednesday.

The effort was defeated by about an 8 to 1 margin.

Voting to table the motion was Republican Rep. Debbie Lesko, who said the GOP should focus on the election. Democratic Rep. Greg Stanton voted the same.

"Speaker Johnson has acted in good faith as it relates to the budget, they did meet us halfway and we did have a bipartisan, compromised budget," Stanton said.

Stanton added that he approved of Johnson’s move working to pass a major military package last month.

Republican Congressmen Paul Gosar, Eli Crane and Andy Biggs supported Johnson’s ouster.
