The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a high pollution advisory for Tuesday and Wednesday in Phoenix.
The levels are said to be at their worst in the afternoons with ozone being the primary pollutant of concern.
Wood burning and off highway vehicle use is prohibited.
With the help of wind, ADEQ forecasts lower ozone levels by Thursday.
