U.S. government officials will visit the Navajo Nation capital on Friday to announce a modernization plan for natural gas pipelines on tribal land.
The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is providing nearly 400 million dollars in gas line infrastructure improvements across the country. The funding comes from the Infrastructure Act and is intended to modernize high risk pipelines.
The agency said the projects will also fund hundreds of new jobs and replace infrastructure that, in some places, dates back 200 years.
