Severe temperatures forecast for first workweek of June

The heat intensifies as Valley residents continue their activities for the workweek. The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures above 100 degrees with the possibility of the latter half of the week achieving an excessive heat watch.

Ryan Worley is a meteorologist with the agency.

“As we head into Wednesday, we’re gonna be really pushing those temperatures closer to 110 and then even warming up further. On Thursday, we‘re calling for a high of 112 degrees, which is around 10 degrees above normal for this time of year," he said.

Worley also says it’s not completely unusual to see temperatures like this in June. That means people need to take extra precautions. He recommends people who are present or working outside should take many breaks and stay hydrated.
