On Thursday morning, a chemical incident at the Brimhall Aquatic Complex in Mesa sent seven people to the hospital.
A hazmat disposal crew as well as the Mesa Fire and Medical Department responded to the scene.
Those injured reportedly showed symptoms of respiratory issues. Marrisa Ramirez-Ramos, with the Mesa Fire Department, urged people to monitor what chemicals they use for their pools.
"Pools are being put back into use, so being aware of the chemicals that you are using, how those chemicals interact and using proper safety protocols when handling any type of chemicals," Ramos said.
The cause is still under investigation.
The city’s Parks and Recreation camp that operates out of the Brimhall campus has been relocated to Jefferson Recreation Center.
