While many checked out the spring training events here in Arizona, others also came for an amateur softball tournament that brings people from across the country.

The Spiderz Spring Training Mega Draft Softball Tournament has been hosted in Arizona before. The organization putting on the event also hosts it in other regions across the U.S.

Josh Coddington is the director of communications for the Arizona Office of Tourism. He says it’s a four-day event made up of 140 teams.

“This tournament attracts over 1,600 players and not just the people who participate but also their family and friends that come with them," he said.

Coddington says people sign up for the tournament and are assigned to random teams.
