Attorney General Kris Mayes says President Donald Trump took 60 DEA agents from Arizona and sent them to Washington, D.C.
During an interview on 12News’ “Sunday Square Off,” Mayes referred to the moving of troops as outrageous.
Mayes says she contacted the United States Attorney General Pam Bondi to send in 50 more DEA agents to combat the drug cartel. However, she says shifting the agents to D.C. has made Arizona less safe.
President Donald Trump deployed the National Guard to patrol Washington, D.C., to crack down on crime. The president has threatened to bring the National Guard to other cities, like Chicago. Many critics denounced the move, claiming it shows an overreach of the president’s power.
Mayes says she would “vigorously oppose” bringing troops to Arizona.
