Nominations are being accepted for a Scottsdale program that honors military veterans and service members.

Street light pole banners in Old Town will feature local veterans, active-duty service members and members of the National Guard and Reserves. A city commission made up of seven residents came up with the Scottsdale Salutes program a couple years ago.

Veterans and active duty members who live — or are from Scottsdale — or have worked in the city at least five years can be nominated. A form on the city’s website require a photo, military branch, dates of service, highest rank and description of service.

Nominations are being accepted until Sept. 27. The city will host a community reception to honor those selected and banners featuring veterans and service members will fly from light poles in Old Town for two weeks in November.
