Cell service provider Verizon experienced widespread outages Monday, affecting over 1 million customers in the United States. The company reported the outage was resolved around 6 p.m. Arizona time.
According to the outage tracking website DownDetector, Verizon customers began experiencing issues with service around 7 a.m. Monday.
The issues persisted into the early afternoon, with the website showing fewer customers affected.
Verizon issued a statement on social media acknowledging the issue and said engineers were working to address it:
We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers. Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue.

Later, Verizon said progress had been made and that service had begun to be restored for customers:

According to DownDetector, Verizon was not the only service provider experiencing issues. Customers from other mobile networks like AT&T and T-Mobile also reported lack of service.
AT&T said it was not experiencing any outages, and that reported issues were likely due to customers having problems connecting to people on other networks:
We are not experiencing a nationwide outage. Our national network is operating normally. Down Detector is likely reflecting challenges our customers are having attempting to connect to users on another network.

T-Mobile did not acknowledge any issues.
