Phoenix is selling two city-owned lots in one of the few remaining historic neighborhoods near downtown.
As part of the Housing Phoenix Plan, the city is focusing on redeveloping city-owned land with mixed-income housing.
At least half the housing for the properties must be for households at or below 80% of the area median income. According to HUD, the limit for a four-person household is $82,250 in Maricopa County.
Phoenix is selling two lots, each about 6,000 square feet, in the Oakland Historic District near 15th Avenue and Van Buren. The site at 1410 W. Polk Street is selling for its $150,000 appraisal amount. The location at 135 W. Polk St is selling for its $120,000 appraisal.
The area’s architecture and development patterns are typical of working-class neighborhoods after the turn of the century. Developers interested in bidding on the sites to add single family or multifamily housing must agree buildings will be compatible in scale, design, materials and appearance.
Proposals are due by Dec. 13.
