Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has issued a warning to a telecom company for transmitting suspected illegal robocalls. It’s part of a broader effort by the Anti-Robocall Multistate Litigation Task Force.
In a letter, Mayes urged iDentidad Advertising Development LLC, also known as iDentidad Telecom, to stop facilitating the calls immediately or be held legally accountable.
“My office will not tolerate companies that facilitate illegal robocalls, which annoy and harm Arizonans,” said Mayes in a statement Friday. “If you route or facilitate illegal or suspicious robocall traffic, you will be held accountable. Along with my fellow attorneys general, we will continue to fight to protect consumers from spam calls.”
iDentidad is accused of routing hundreds of robocalls into the United States from other countries, including a wide range of scams from impersonating government officials to utility shut-off scares.
iDentidad also recently received a cease-and-desist from the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Communications Commission.
According to the FCC, iDentidad continued to field notices for suspicious activity up until last week.
