Real Water was marketed primarily in Nevada, Arizona, Utah and California.

A Nevada jury delivered a $5.2 billion verdict this week against a former Las Vegas-based bottled water company found responsible for causing liver damage in customers.

The product had also been sold in Arizona.

The verdict capped a 12-day trial in the negligence and liability case against AffinityLifestyles.com Inc and its Real Water brand.

The jury awarded plaintiffs $230 million in compensatory damages and $5 billion in punitive damages.

Real Water was sold throughout the Southwest. In 2021, it was pulled off shelves after it was linked to multiple cases of liver failure in children and hepatitis in adults. Defense attorneys have cast the company as unintentionally negligent.

Previous juries that delivered separate verdicts against the company awarded about $3.5 billion to plaintiffs.
