The national unemployment rate was unchanged from September to October, at 4.1%. While Arizona’s rate remained well below the national mark, it did climb to 3.6%.
Doug Walls with the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity says over the past year, the state’s labor pool has expanded and many key sectors have grown. But manufacturing was among the industries that lost jobs.
“These industries are likely feeling the impact of elevated interest rates and cautious business spending aligning with broader national trends," he said.
Among the leading Arizona sectors for year-over-year job growth were hospitality, trade, transportation and health care.
