Late last week, the Biden administration awarded $6.6 billion in CHIPS Act Funding to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.
TSMC is using some of those funds to expand its apprenticeship program. The program started taking applications Tuesday and will accept them into late February.
The expansion includes new positions, such as equipment, facilities and process technician apprenticeships.
According to Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs’s office, the company has invested $5 million in the new programs.
At a press conference Tuesday, Hobbs says the CHIPS funding helped to fund the program.
“Now that we have secured this investment, we are doubling down on ramping up our workforce and connecting Arizonan’s to these good paying jobs," Hobbs said.
The apprenticeships can range from 18 to 24 months.
