Scottsdale paid for a study by ASU researchers on the economic impact of WestWorld.

Results say that the city’s largest indoor-outdoor-events venue contributed nearly $164 million to Arizona’s gross domestic product.

WestWorld is anchored by an equestrian center flanked by massive halls, surrounded by arenas and wide open fields.

The sprawling campus is synonymous with a Barrett-Jackson car auction and the Scottsdale Rodeo.

ASU researchers went on site and online during the most recent tourist season to interview out-of-towners who went to certain major events at WestWorld.

Based on the results, the researchers estimate that major events alone at WestWorld generated nearly $5 million in tax revenue and supported about 1,800 jobs statewide.
