In August, OSHA announced that it’s proposing a rule to help reduce workplace heat risks. And from now until mid-January, the agency is seeking public feedback.
The rule would require employers to develop a Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Plan.
In it, they’d have to address conditions both in- and outdoors when it comes to emergency response procedures, training, and recordkeeping.
The current OSHA-approved plan Arizona uses covers the private sector, plus state and government workers. But currently, there’s no specific federal standard for workplace heat stress.
Step-by-step instructions for submissions can be found where the rule is posted in the Federal Register.
