Salt River Project customers began paying higher rates for their electricity bills last month. The power utility is now proposing another increase that would take effect next November.
The proposed increase would raise monthly bills for the average residential customer by 3.5% – which amounts to $5.64. This comes on the heels of a 3.2% increase that took effect last month.
The utility’s publicly elected board of directors would have to approve the latest proposal.
“The board would make a decision by the end of February. And then if approved as proposed, those prices would not change until November 2025," said Brandon Shoemaker with SRP.
SRP says the money would go toward its base revenue, which supports projects such as upgrades to the power system. Multiple public hearings have been scheduled.
