Phoenix-based U-Haul will move its headquarters to the tallest building in midtown.
For nearly 60 years, U-Haul has been based in two symmetrical 11-story office buildings along Central Avenue. Over the next two years, the company will move into the former Century Link Tower at Central and Thomas, only a block away.
The nearly 550,000-square-foot building has 25 floors, making it the tallest high rise outside of downtown. The U-Haul Tower will house 1,600 employees.
In a press release, Sam Shoen, vice chair of U-Haul Holding Company, said, “Our eventual move to the tallest building in Midtown Phoenix is both symbolic and substantive. It reflects the position our team has built as an industry and community leader over the past eight decades.”
The family-owned company says it has more than 34,000 employees and 23,000 locations across the U.S. and Canada.
