An Idaho Supreme Court decision could impact the proposed sale of the University of Phoenix to the University of Idaho.
The University of Idaho has bid roughly $685 million to acquire the Phoenix-based, for-profit online school.
But Idaho’s attorney general argued the state board of education violated open meetings laws by holding closed-door discussions about the proposed sale.
The Idaho Supreme Court ruled a trial court judge erred in declaring those closed-door meetings legal under Idaho law, and sent the matter back to District Court.
According to Idaho Education News, the universities have until June to come to terms on a sale. But due to the ruling, the University of Phoenix can now talk to other would-be buyers.
