Mesa police have arrested four UPS employees accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of packages. Officials say UPS discovered irregularities with packages being received from vendors but not making it to their destinations.
Mesa police arrested four men who worked for the UPS warehouse located near Higley and Baseline roads.
UPS security found evidence of employees interfering with the delivery of packages to their intended destinations.
Police say the four men all admitted involvement when they spoke to investigators.
“What they would do is they would pull those packages off of the line and then create a different shipping label and simply ship those boxes to their home addresses," Detective Richard Encinas said.
Encinas says the men all admitted to their involvement in the operation.
“They all basically stated that they were just taking things that they either liked or things of high value such as TVs, things like that," he said.
Encinas says the men face felony charges of theft of greater than $10,000 and fraud.
