Arizona workers earning the minimum wage will get raises on Jan. 1. The statewide rate will increase 35 cents to $14.70 an hour. A full-time job at that rate would pay about $30,500 a year.

In 2016, Arizona voters approved an initiative that increased the minimum wage with cost of living adjustments on an annual basis. The law does not apply to state or federal employees, someone employed by a parent or sibling or a person performing babysitting services in the employer’s home on a casual basis.

Also starting Jan. 1, the minimum wages in Tucson and Flagstaff will be higher than the state, thanks to voters in those cities. Tucson’s rate will be $15 an hour. In Flagstaff it will be $17.85.
