Metro Phoenix's largest electricity provider is planning rate increases again this year. Salt River Project will hold two open meetings next week to give customers a chance to learn more about the proposal.
SRP customers just started paying higher rates in November. And if SRP’s board approves the next round of proposed rate increases, bills will go up again this year in November. The average customer’s monthly bill would increase by about 3.5%, or about $5.64, according to SRP. But bill impacts will vary based on customer usage and price plan.
The utility paused some price increases during the pandemic and now says rate hikes are needed to recoup fuel and purchased power costs and to pay for system upgrades.
Customers can submit comments and questions at two open house events or srp.net/srpprices.
