The catering company for the Waste Management Phoenix Open and other big local events says it hopes to make hundreds of on-the-spot hires this month.
The yearly recruiting blitz of hospitality workers helps staff the event season that features the golf tournament in February.
“But it’s all experience levels welcome. So even if you’re not sure that you can do something culinary but you’ve always wanted to try,” said ToniAnn Petrella-Diaz, human resources director for M Culinary Concepts.
Roughly 350,000 Arizonans work in the leisure and hospitality industry, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The figure dips when temperatures are above triple digits.
The number of Arizonans with leisure and hospitality jobs fell by thousands from April through August.
The loss was erased by November.
