A sunny day in metro Phoenix on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Phoenix is updating its climate action plan and the city’s holding community workshops to share details.

Sessions are being offered in-person and online through mid-February. Spanish interpretation is available. The workshops focus on developing solutions for water conservation, energy affordability, creating healthy communities and ways to reduce health risks related to heat.

The overarching goal of Phoenix’s current climate action plan released in 2021 is to provide a framework for growth and development while building a strong, equitable and resilient city.

Its vision includes several goals to reach by 2050, like doubling the current tree and shade canopy, providing a clean, reliable 100-year water supply and fueling all public transportation with net zero greenhouse gas sources of energy — that means the amount of greenhouse gases emitted is equal to the amount removed.
