International Trade Commission to ban nicotine vape products from Arizona-based NJOY

The U.S. International Trade Commission plans to ban certain nicotine vape devices sold by an Arizona-based company, and published the notice Tuesday.

In the ruling, the ITC claims NJOY violated trade laws by importing and selling certain vape cartridges or devices. And as a result, the agency has issued a ban on certain NJOY products, ordering the company to stop selling them in the country.

The ITC claims the offending products infringe on patents owned by JUUL Labs.

The ban notice follows a roughly two-year investigation that found NJOY guilty of infringing on multiple vape-technology related patents, violating federal law.

A statement on NJOY’s website indicated that while it disagrees with the orders, it will comply with them.
