Gas prices continue to tick up amid tariff concerns. Arizona's average price of gas increased 2 cents from last week.
Arizona AAA spokesperson Julian Parades says this is likely the beginning of rising prices.
“Part of the increase is from oil prices, the threat of tariffs is definitely keeping oil prices a little more expensive right now, but February is also typically when gas prices start going up anyway there’s more demand, more people are going on vacation,” said Parades
AAA reports that last week, gasoline demand increased from 8.3 million barrels per day to 8.32. The supply grew from 248.9 million barrels to 251.1.
Parades said Maricopa County is the highest in demand region in Arizona at the moment.
“Maricopa County is the most expensive gas right now, there’s probably extra demand happening in the Phoenix area right now for whatever reason,” said Paredes.
Arizona rivers are looking to pay an average of around $3.27 a gallon, 13 cents above the national average.
