Buckeye officials said in 2021 that a future factory for making lithium-battery cells would create thousands of jobs and become the city’s biggest employer.
Multiple reports say KORE Power has nixed its West Valley plan, though city officials have not been told directly.
Lithium-ion batteries go into a variety of products, such as wireless headphones and electric cars.
The Arizona Republic published a statement by KORE Power saying plans for the Buckeye factory won’t move forward.
The report came about two weeks after a construction company filed a claim with Maricopa County alleging that KORE Power owes the company about $10.4 million.
A city spokesperson says KORE Power built infrastructure where the factory would have gone and Buckeye officials plan to build more in the area.
KORE Power did not reply to questions.
