Gov. Katie Hobbs has announced the relaunch of the Arizona Space Commission. It consists of seven leaders from industry, science and education fields.
Hobbs signed a bill last year to revive the inactive commission in order to “promote and expand” aerospace-related efforts and opportunities. The group will receive the support of the Arizona Commerce Authority.
In the announcement, the governor’s office highlighted the state’s importance in the growing space and aerospace industries. It also recognized the state’s business expansions with companies ranging from BlackStar Orbital to Virgin Galactic.
Hobbs says the group will “solidify” state leadership and “grow the workforce.”
