Restaurants are facing a battle on two fronts.
First they were trying to address the higher price of eggs due to avian flu.
Arizona Restaurant Association President Steve Chucri says higher fees, surcharges and fewer menu options are possible.
And now those same businesses may start facing the effects of President Donald Trump's imposed tariffs.
Chucri says it’s about more than just food.
“Construction costs if you’re expanding, to hard cost of replacing items in a restaurant, to the average day of operations where you're looking to produce and you’re looking to other poultry and meats," Chucri said.
He says raising menu prices are not simple and surcharges are not desirable. He predicts the industry will hold steady for the time being.
