Federal prosecutors are charging more people accused of raiding cargo trains in northern Arizona.
It’s the latest case in a growing number of train robberies in northern Arizona targeting shipments of Nike shoes.
Federal agents say in late April, four people were arrested after the operator of one train spotted people onboard a second stopped train unloading boxes into a car just outside of Ash Fork.
Responding deputies spotted a cargo van filled to the roof with Nike shoes.
Then, according to a probable cause statement, the driver of an involved box truck failed to stop for police and crashed into two Coconino County Sheriff’s Department deputy vehicles in Flagstaff.
All four people face federal charges.
