The Arizona Department of Agriculture announced another commercial farm in Maricopa County has tested positive for bird flu.
This discovery at the unnamed facility comes on the heels of Hickman’s Family Farms losing 95% of its chickens in Arizona after testing positive.
The poultry at the latest facility started showing symptoms last week.
The department says eggs produced after symptoms were observed did not go into the food supply. And there’s been no sign of the illness in humans.
The affected poultry farm has been placed under quarantine.
The USDA has set up a sick bird hotline at 1-866-536-7593. Illness in wild birds can be reported to the Arizona Game and Fish Department at 623-236-7201.
