The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning of a Salmonella outbreak in multiple states that has been linked to a California egg producer.

According to the latest data, the outbreak has sickened dozens of people, including at least three in Arizona.

The August Egg Company is recalling 1.7 million dozen cage free eggs and brown certified organic eggs distributed to multiple restaurants and retailers. In Arizona, some Walmart locations received these food products.

The CDC says people in possession of the recalled eggs should throw them away or return them at their location of purchase. The agency also says to wash items and surfaces that have touched the recalled items using hot soapy water.

More information on the specific products recalled can be found on the Food and Drug Administration website.

Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, fever and stomach cramps.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This story has been updated to correct the number of eggs recalled.
