AAA Arizona credits cheap crude oil and healthy gasoline inventories for lower prices at the pump this week.
The statewide average dropped by 4 cents, to about $3.26 a gallon. That’s down more than 40 cents a gallon from this time last year.
Julian Paredes with AAA says the current dip will likely be short lived.
"We’re just about in summer travel season. Summer begins officially next week. That’s really when demand for gas is at its highest. So yeah, it wouldn’t be surprising if gas prices go up," Paredes said.
Paredes said Maricopa County has the highest priced fuel in the state right now, at an average of $3.44 a gallon.
